The U.S. Army Parachute team, “The Golden Knights,” were featured performers during Saturday’s USAA Military Appreciation Day at Shelby’s Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium.
Eight jumpers entered the stadium during about a 15-minute program before Saturday’s final contest.
Earlier, all U.S. military were recognized and honored by the ALWS and Shelby American Legion Post 82.

Buffalo 29, Carolina 14: The Panthers’ starting offense’s struggles overshadowed virtually everything else that happened in a preseason road loss.
Carolina’s starting quarterback Bryce Young and many other starters were unable to picked up a first down in three series of plays that results in nine plays for 17 net yards.
The Panthers were without six players due to injuries – QB Haynes King (hamstring), RB Chuba Hubbard (hamstring), RG Robert Hunt (back), LG Damien Lewis (calf), OLB Pat Jones (illness) and DE Derrick Brown (knee).
Buffalo’s offense also drove the ball effectively against Carolina’s defense that included many starters as the Bills first four drives resulted in a field goal, a touchdown, a missed field and a field goal for a 13-0 lead late in the first half.
At that point of the game, Buffalo had racked up 15 first downs and 426 yards total offense.
Backup Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett directed a 10-play, 83-yard drive just before halftime that was capped by a 6-yard TD pass to Ja’seem Reed.
Buffalo then scored the next 16 points for a 29-7 lead before Carolina reserve quarterback Kyle Trask’s 9-yard TD pass to John Methie III pulled the Panthers closer.
Pickett finished with 16 completions in 19 attempts for 92 yards and the late TD with Trask six of nine for 53 yards and one TD and one interception and Young was three for five for 18 yards.
Backup running back Anthony Tyus III had four carries for team-high 28 rushing yards and Buffalo outgained Carolina 396 to 201.
