The longest winning streak in Gaston County Conference history continued on Tuesday as Belmont Middle School defeated Cramerton 5-2 for the 2026 girls soccer title.

The Wildcats, coached by Stephanie Daniel, extended their winning streak to 76 games and dates to 2019.

Belmont, who last lost in the 2018 semifinals to Mount Holly, has won six straight county titles.

In Tuesday’s victory, Grace Kivette and Gemma Norton had two goals apiece and Morgan Bumgardner one as the Wildcats won their ninth county championship all time. Cramerton is the all time leader with 12 titles and 22 championship game appearances.

Cramerton, which finished 10-2 with both losses to Belmont, did something no other team could do against the Wildcats this season: They scored a goal.

The Eagles’ two scores kept Belmont from becoming the first team in league history to shutout its opposition for the entire season; The Wildcats finished with a 78-2 goal differential for the season, which is third-best in county history behind Belmont’s 2022 88-2 differential and Belmont’s 2017’s 85-1 differential.

Golf

The Rutherford County Sports Hall Of Fame (RCSHOF), presented by Hardin’s Drug, in conjunction with Golf Sponsors Forest City Honda and Chick-fil-A of Forest City, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 T. Max Champion Memorial Golf Tournament.

The tournament will be held on Friday, July 31 at the Apple Vally Golf Course in Lake Luke, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Registration fee is $100.00 per player or $400.00 for a team of four and covers the green fee, cart usage and lunch.

First prize for Gross and Net Winners is $600.00 per team. Other prizes will be awarded based on the number of entries. Proceeds from the event go to support the RCSHOF Scholarship Fund and registration deadline is July 21.
