The Charlotte Hornets have made big news with a pair of transactions – and rumors of more.

Thursday morning, ESPN reported the team is trading former All-Star guard LaMelo Ball and reserve guard Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for veteran Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029 and 2030) and three second-round picks (2029, 2032 and 2033).

Later in the day, ESPN reported that Hornets’ free agent guard Coby White is close to signing a three-year, $74 million deal. According to the report, White was a major priority for the team – particularly after Ball was traded away – and could become Charlotte’s starting point guard.

The moves mean the Hornets have now created nearly a $41 million trade exception – the largest in league history.

Additionally, reports indicate the club is looking to trade away veteran forward Miles Bridges and could make even more moves in the the coming weeks.

Golf

The Rutherford County Sports Hall Of Fame (RCSHOF), presented by Hardin’s Drug, in conjunction with Golf Sponsors Forest City Honda and Chick-fil-A of Forest City, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 T. Max Champion Memorial Golf Tournament.

The tournament will be held on Friday, July 31 at the Apple Vally Golf Course in Lake Luke, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Registration fee is $100.00 per player or $400.00 for a team of four and covers the green fee, cart usage and lunch.

First prize for Gross and Net Winners is $600.00 per team. Other prizes will be awarded based on the number of entries. Proceeds from the event go to support the RCSHOF Scholarship Fund and registration deadline is July 21.
