By Richard Walker

The Charlotte Hornets continued their recent surge with a 114-103 victory over the New York Knicks in front of the 20th sellout crowd of the year at Spectrum Center.

LaMelo Ball and the Hornets are five games over .500 for the first time since the 2021-22 season.

A crowd of 19,625 that included vocal Knicks’ supporters saw the Hornets trailed only briefly in the first half as rookie Kon Knueppel hit six 3-pointers to become the youngest to hit 250 in a single season as part of his 26-point, 10-rebound, 8-assist performance.

LaMelo Ball (22 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists), Brandon Miller (21 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists), Miles Bridges (17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) and Coby White (17 points) were other top Charlotte performers as the Hornets won their fifth straight – all of the current seven-game homestand that concludes this weekend with games Saturday (Philadelphia) and Sunday (Boston).

With a 39-34 record, its the first time the Hornets have been five games over .500 since their 28-22 in late January 2022.
