Belmont Abbey won the 2026 Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Developmental Championship on Monday in a 60-38 win over Young Harris at the Wheeler Center.

The Crusaders earned the title after earning two wins in the tournament.
In the opener, a 60-27 win over Ferrum, the Crusaders held the Panthers to just 10 points in the first half. Sydney Martin and Valeria Batista both recorded double-doubles in the win. Martin finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Batista had 10 points and 10 rebounds herself. Katie Story added eight points and four assists and Anijah Jones eight points and five assists.
In the championship game, the Abbey pulled away in the second half by outscoring the Mountain Lions 18-5. Martin finished with a game-high 22 points with three rebounds and two blocks while Reagan Iovino had 12 points, all of which came from 3-point range. Emily Driver added 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists and Claire Griffin had seven points, eight assists and three steals.
Martin, a sophomore from Naples, Fla., was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
