The Lincoln County Sports Hall of Fame has announced the inductees for its upcoming banquet.

The 2024 Class will be inducted on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the James W. Warren Citizen Center in Lincolnton at 6 p.m. Tickets are available for $35 apiece, which includes the meal, and can be purchased at the Lincoln County Parks and Recreation office at 302 North Academy Street in Lincolnton. Deadline to purchase is Feb. 4.

The class will be comprised of Bill Clemmer, Steve “Toe” Gantt, Joe Don Haney, Kevin Ray, Edgar Rutledge and Samantha Smith.

Bill Clemmer was a longtime PGA Tour rules official, member of Carolinas PGA Hall of Fame and was general manager at Cowans Ford for 20 years.

Gantt was the 1st and only barefoot kicker/punter at Lincolnton High School in the late 1950s and Appalachian State University in the 1960s.

Haney was a 3-sport athlete for East Lincoln High School (baseball, basketball and football) in the 1980s, later played baseball at Wake Forest University and is currently the Director of Athletics at Southlake Christian Academy.

Ray is a longtime athletics supporter and volunteer with Lincolnton High School Athletic Boosters.

Rutledge was a two-time state runner-up wrestler at West Lincoln High School who wrestled at Western Carolina University, began the Lincolnton High School wrestling program in 1974 and was also a longtime wrestling official.

And Smith was a track state champion and record-holder at Lincolnton High School in the late 1980s.
