Wednesday’s roundup: Pro baseball, College baseball, football and soccer, High school soccer, softball and baseball

By Richard Walker

Christopher Proctor

Former Burns High and Cherryville Legion Post 100 standout Christopher Proctor is one step away from the major leagues after being promoted to Class AAA Toledo on Wednesday.

Proctor, a 2015 Burns High graduate, had been playing for the West Michigan Whitecaps of the High Class A Central League where he was hitting .250 with a double in one game.

A 13th-round selection out of Duke in the 2018 major league draft by the Detroit Tigers, Proctor is a 6-foot-1, 175-pound catcher who is hitting .208 with two home runs and 33 RBIs in 103 career minor league games.

Proctor played for Cherryville Post 100 in 2015 and for Duke from 2016 to 2018 and he is one step away from becoming the first Burns High product to play in the major leagues.
