Sunday’s roundup: Gardner-Webb split Big South Conference games and updated prep basketball standings and this week’s schedule

The Eagles are the first Big South Conference team to begin a season 11-0 and also improved to 8-0 in league play while dropping Gardner-Webb to 3-8 overall and 2-4 in the league.
Gardner-Webb led 46-40 at the half but the Eagles took the lead for good with 13:52 to play and the Runnin’ Bulldogs could get no closer than four points the rest of the way.
Jacob Falko had 20 points and Jaheam Cornwell 18 to lead Gardner-Webb, which is scheduled to play again on Thursday at Radford at 7 p.m. in a nationally-televised ESPNU Big South contest.
College women’s basketball
Gardner-Webb 68, Charleston Southern 59: The Bulldogs improved to 4-7 overall and 4-2 in the Big South after completing a two-game sweep of the weekend road series. Jhessyka Williams (17 points, 5 rebounds), Ki’Ari Cain (14 points), Alasia Smith (10 points, 6 rebounds) and Gabrielle Caponegro (8 points, 6 rebounds) led Gardner-Webb, which is scheduled to play again at home against Radford on Friday at 6 p.m.
