Monday’s roundup: Several NCHSAA state cross country qualifiers, Charlotte 49ers honor and prep basketball standings and schedule

Several local athletes have qualified for this weekend’s N.C. High School Athletic Association state cross country championships that will be held at Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville beginning at 9:30 a.m.
That includes individual champions and team champions from last week’s regional meets held all across the region.
The state championship qualifiers are as follows:
Class 3A boys individuals: Nicholas Willer (Cramer), Zachary Willer (Cramer), Austin Brotemarkle (Forestview), Oussama Ajala (Forestview)
Class 2A boys team and individuals: North Lincoln (Miles Phillips, Jacob Scott, Stephen Fernetti, Jared Campbell, Noah Carter, Joseph Quilla, Ethan Davis)
Class 2A boys individual: Emmanuel Paddyfote (South Point)
Class 2A girls team and individuals: North Lincoln (Angie Allen, Lori Glavan, Bella Wood, Cara Castro, Emily Laramie, Kelbi Pierce, Paulina Pena Boardman)
Class 2A girls individuals: Katherine Hopkins (Lincolnton)
Class 1A boys team and individuals: Lincoln Charter (Cutter Law, Patrick Rice, Brandon Wright, Mitchell Swicegood, Matthew Radin, Manix Ferreira, Tucker Caulder)
Class 1A girls team and individuals: Lincoln Charter (Katie Elliott, Lydia Guffey, Jillian Aganad, Hannah Rogers, Katie Rysdon, Amelia Aganad, Lia Zink)
Class 1A girls individuals: Lauren Tolbert (Highland Tech), Hannah Butlak (Mountain Island Charter)
Last Saturday, North Lincoln boys and girls won the 2A West regional title at Murrays Hill in Catawba and Lincoln Charter’s boys won the 1A West team title at Kituawah Mound in Bryson City.
Last Saturday, Cramer’s Nicholas Willer was individual medalist in the 3A boys West regional at Jackson Park in Hendersonville and North Lincoln’s Angie Allen was individual medalist in the 2A girls West regional.
College women’s basketball
Junior Jada McMillian of the Charlotte 49ers was named Conference USA Player of the Week award after helping the 49ers win their fifth straight win to improve them to 4-0 in league play. The Raleigh native averaged 27.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 0.0 turnovers in leading Charlotte to pair of road victories at UAB.
