High school roundup: Forestview, South Point take volleyball wins, Kings Mountain boys and girls win Big South cross country meet

High school volleyball
Forestview 3, North Gaston 1 (25-19, 25-10, 18-25, 25-16): The Jaguars improved to 2-1 behind Anna Townsend (10 kills, 4 aces, 10 digs), Emma Thornburg (9 kills), Emma Davis (7 kills, 1 ace), Lily Harmon (16 assists) and Abbey Curtis (16 assists).
Forestview visits Hunter Huss next Tuesday in its next match.
South Point 3, Stuart Cramer 1 (25-10, 23-25, 25-14, 25-22): South Point took the non-conference match behind Chloe Ratliff (17 Kills, 11 Digs), Anna Dunbar (15 Kills), Emily Revels (42 Assists) and Kailee McAlister (10 digs, 4 Aces).
South Point hosts East Rutherford Tuesday night in a Southwestern 2A Conference match.
The Red Raiders also won the JV match – 25-20 and 25-22.
Shelby 3, Chase 0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-11)
West Lincoln d. Newton-Conover
East Lincoln 3, North Lincoln 0 (25-8, 25-22, 25-21): The Mustangs (3-0) are atop the South Fork 2A Conference standings.
Highland Tech 3, Cherryville 0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-7): The Rams (3-0) are atop the Southern Piedmont 1A Conference standings.
Lincoln Charter 3, Christ the King 0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-22)
High school cross country
Kings Mountain takes boys, girls wins: Parker Key was the boys winner and Thalia Kushman the girls winner in a Big South 3A Conference meet at the Kings Mountain course.
Key won with a time of 17:52.50 on the 5,000-meter course. He was followed by Kings Mountain’s Hunter Cruise (18:50.05), Hunter Huss’ Ben Kimmel (19:34.89), Kings Mountain Kohen Johnson (19:42.50) and Nicholas Horn (20:30.12), Crest’s Rex Howard (20:44.86) and Kings Mountain’s Wyatt Wilson (21:09.51).
Kushman won with a time of 21:47.87. She was followed by Kings Mountain’s Divinity Ervin (22:48.92) and Ashley Gural (24:25.18), Crest’s Jillian Hux (25:02.51) and Emma Harrill (25:16.81) and Kings Mountain’s Nicole Poston (25:50.45) and Parker Wilson (26:48.20).
