High school basketball standings: Where they stand entering the final week of the regular season

Championships have been determined in four of eight races in the Big South 3A, Southwestern 2A, South Fork 2A and Southern Piedmont 1A conferences as the final week of the regular season begins on Monday.

Crest’s boys clinched the Big South 3A title, Shelby’s girls have clinched the Southwestern 2A title, Newton-Conover’s girls have clinched the South Fork 2A title and Lincoln Charter’s boys have clinched the Southern Piedmont 1A title.

Crest’s title is its 11th in school history and first since 2015.

Shelby’s title is its 13th in school history and second straight.

And Lincoln Charter’s title is its seventh straight dating to the 2015 season.

Champions in the other league races will be crowned this week as Ashbrook’s girls have a one-game lead in the Big South 3A, North Lincoln’s boys have a one-game lead in the South Fork 2A, R-S Central and Shelby are tied for the Southwestern 2A boys lead and Bessemer City’s girls have a one-game lead over Lincoln Charter in the Southern Piedmont 1A.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association will announce brackets on Feb. 20 for the upcoming state playoffs that will begin Feb. 23 and run through March 6.
