College football roundup: Crest pair leads East Carolina to victory and former South Point standout has big game for South Carolina

Several local products performed on college football gridirons, including a pair of former Crest standouts who helped East Carolina to an Amerian Athletic Conference victory.

Here’s a look at how it all transpired:

East Carolina 28, Temple 3: Chris Willis (2016 Crest High graduate) started at defensive end for the sixth straight game and had a season-high seven tackles and backup linebacker Aaron Ramseur (Crest 2016) had three tackles in the Pirates’ American Athletic Conference road victory.

East Carolina (2-6) host SMU next Saturday.

N.C. State 15, Liberty 14: Jaylon Scott (Shelby 2019) was a reserve linebacker for N.C. State in its win over previously unbeaten Liberty. The Wolfpack (6-3) visits Syracuse next Saturday.

Missouri 17, South Carolina 10: Nick Muse (South Point 2017) caught six passes for 67 yards for South Carolina in their home loss. The Gamecocks (2-6) host Georgia next Saturday.

Pittsburgh 47, Virginia Tech 14: Dax Hollifield (Shelby 2018) had two tackles in the Hokies’ road loss. Virginia Tech (4-5) next plays on Dec. 5 at home against Clemson.
