9-29-21 roundup: Mixed martial arts, Pro football and baseball, College football, High school football and boys soccer, Middle school football and softball
By Richard Walker
It’s always good to be remembered in your hometown by your old school and mixed martial arts fighter and television star Justine Kish will be honored by Cramerton Middle School on Thursday.

A 2007 South Point High graduate, Justine Kish attended Cramerton in the 2001-02 and 2002-03 school years back when she was a multi-sport athlete.
Justine Kish, 33, is now a veteran mixed martial arts fighter who has appeared on a reality television, is currently doing stunt work for TV shows and has been casted for a new Game Show Network show.
“It’s an honor and I’m glad to be back home to do it,” said Justine Kish, who has a 7-4 all-time kickboxing record. “I’m still trying to stay in athletics right now but it’s a lot of moving parts.”
Her next competition is slated for November as she continues to do work at Venice Beach, Marina del Ray and Hollywood, Cal. while also working with new trainer Cris Cyborg, a MMA championship-winning fighter.
“She’s convinced me that if I made a few tweaks, I can be a champion,” Justine Kish said.
The last year has been bittersweet as her mother Laurel Kish died on Oct. 29, 2020.
“That’s been really hard on me,” Justine Kish said. “It was really tough to get back to see her during COVID. I miss her but I’m glad she’s not struggling anymore.
“I still have many friends in North Carolina and I still think of it as home. California is strictly business for me.”
