9-17-23 roundup: Pro football, baseball, basketball and soccer, High school football, College football, Middle school football and softball, NASCAR
By Richard Walker
Every week this season, www.CarolinasSportsHub.com will look back at the Carolina Panthers’ historic 2003 season that ended with the franchise’s first trip to the Super Bowl.
Week 2: One of the most improbable wins in team history hands the 2002 Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers a 12-9 overtime loss on their home field. In a defensive-minded battle, Tampa Bay appeared to have rallied for a win on a 6-yard Brad Johnson-to-Keenan McCardell TD pass on the last play of regulation. Instead, Kris Jenkins blocks Martin Grammatica’s potential game-winning extra point and John Kasay’s 47-yard field goal gives Carolina the win.
Here is a preview of the 2023 Week 2 home game:
Game 2- Sept. 18: New Orleans at Carolina Panthers, 7:15 p.m.
