The 8th and final team for the 8-team field for this week’s American Legion World Series in Shelby punched its ticket on Monday morning.
Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Post 671 rallied past longtime power Midland (Mich.) Post 165 by a 2-1 score when the teams resumed a game that was suspended with Midland leading 1-0 on Sunday.
It means Cedar Rapids becomes the third 1st-time participant along with Ellsworth, Maine Post 207 and history-making Cheyenne, Wyo., Post 6.
Cheyenne becomes the first ALWS participant from the state of Wyoming.
Defending champion Troy, Ala., leads the field that includes all-time ALWS participant Brooklawn, N.J. and former ALWS participants Florence, S.C., Lincoln, Neb., and League City, Tex.

The PGA Tour on Monday released its 2024 FedExCup regular season playing dates and FedExCup playoffs schedule – and it includes the playing dates for
The tour returns to a calendar-year schedule for the first time since 2012 with the FedExCup Fall portion of the 2024 FedExCup Season, which will finalize the top 125 for the 2025 season, to be announced at a later date.
The 2024 FedExCup regular season, consisting of 36 events, begins in January with The Wyndham Championship in Greensboro once again
serving as the finale with 70 players advancing to the FedExCup playoffs.
Four events will be in the Carolinas – the April 15-21 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, S.C., the May 6-12 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C., the May 6-12 Myrtle Beach Classic at Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and the Aug. 5-11 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
