All 4 area NFL players survived cut week even as 1 of those players was released by 1 team and signed by another.
Tanner Muse, a 2015 South Point High graduate, was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday but was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Chargers. A linebacker, Muse has previously played for the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks. and is entering his 4th NFL season.
The other 3 remained with the teams they went to training camp with, among them 8-year NFL veteran Jonathan Bullard (Crest 2012).
Bullard, a defensive lineman, is beginning his 2nd season with the Minnesota Vikings and has previously played for the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons.
Nick Muse (South Point 2017) enters his 2nd season as a Minnesota Vikings tight end.
And Chazz Surratt (East Lincoln 2015) begins his 2nd season as New York Jets linebacker and also has played for the Vikings.
In the recently-completed preseason, Surratt had 7 tackles and 1 pass interception in 2 games, Bullard had 1 tackle in 1 game, Nick Muse had 7 catches for 72 yards and 1 TD in 3 games and Tanner Muse had 10 tackles in 3 games.

After cutting their roster down to 53 on Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers signed 11 players to their practice squad.
The players are RB Spencer Brown, G Deonte Brown, G J.D. DiRenzo, G Justin McCray, DL Raequan Williams, DL Taylor Stallworth, OLB Eku Leota, OLB Jordan Thomas, CB Mark Milton, CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver III and S Eric Rowe.
NFL teams are allowed to carry 16 players on their practice squad, which means Carolina could add 5 more players if they so choose.
Also on Wednesday, Carolina waived 3 players – QB Matt Corral, WR Derek Wright and LB Chandler Wooten.
