Cherryville American Legion Post 100 scored an unearned run in the fourth inning to edge the Gaston Braves 2-1 on Saturday night in the third game of their N.C. Area IV semifinal series.

American Legion coaches Bobby Reynolds (Cherryville in red) and Kenneth Pasour (Gaston Braves in blue) meet with umpires before Saturday’s N.C. Area IV playoff game.

The Braves lead the series 2-1 with the fourth game slated for Sunday at 7 p.m. at South Point High’s Raider Field.

Cherryville scored first in the third inning as Zane Brockman’s RBI double – Post 100’s first extra base hit of the series – gave it a 1-0 lead.

Julian Hall’s RBI single tied the score at 1 in the top of the fourth before Joseph Webb scored on an unearned run in the fourth.
