Cherryville and East Lincoln led their respective all-conference baseball teams after each team won or shared their league titles.
In the Southern Piedmont 1A Conference, Cherryville’s Dalton Pence was named player of the year and Scott Heavner coach of the in voting by league coaches. Pence also was one of five Ironmen all-conference selections; Will Fowler, Christian Hahn, Landon Hahn and Ty Heavner also were selected.
Cherryville shared the league title with Lincoln Charter.

East Lincoln won the league title and Michel was one of five all-conference selections; Graham Smiley, Jordan Fisher, Gavin Houser and Isaac Armstrong were the other Mustangs all-league picks.

Cherryville 12, Rutherford County 2 (6 innings): Noah Ingle picked up the pitching victory and Zach Wilson (4-4, 2 triples, 1 double) led the Cherryville (3-2, 2-1) offense.
Cleveland County 2, Asheville 1: Charlie Martin went five no-hit innings before reliever Bradley Jordan got the win for Cleveland County (2-0). Ryan Emery led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a double and pinch-runner Blake Davis scored the winning run on Jed Bridges’ RBI groundout. Cleveland County’s other run came on back-to-back doubles by Boone Cartee and Jackson Ledbetter in the first inning.
Gaston Braves 9, Queen City 7: Logan Agost (2 hits, 3 RBIs), Ayden Ledford (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Drew Wofford (1 hit, 2 RBIs) led the Braves (2-1) offense and starter and winner Grayson Guy struck out five in four innings.

Basketball camp
The 25th annual East Lincoln High School boys and girls basketball camp will be June 28-July 1, with rising seventh-10th graders participating from 8:30 a.m.-noon and rising second-sixth graders participating from 1-4 p.m.
Longtime East Lincoln coach Chip Ashley, Director of the Denver Nuggets Travel Basketball teams, is again the camp organizer. announces the date for the 25th annual basketball camp at East Lincoln High School.

Gastonia fell to 9-11 on the season in a 14-13 loss at West Virginia on Sunday.
The Honey Hunters are off on Monday before a three-game road series at Long Island Tuesday through Thursday.
