“Women’s Cross Country is a welcome addition to our athletics program,” Dr. John Hauser, President of Gaston College, said in a school news release. “We’re excited about bringing more student athletes to Gaston College and are really looking forward to seeing them grow and develop both in athletics and academics.”

Gaston College will be a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and compete in Region X that includes schools in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Pro football

After an injury cost him all of what would’ve been his rookie season of 2020, former South Point High football star Tanner Muse is prepping to make his NFL debut with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Muse is expected to be on special teams and in the linebacker rotation after missing all of 2020 with a left toe injury that eventually required surgery.

A 2015 South Point High graduate, Muse was a third-round draft pick of the Raiders after he was a four-year standout and two-time national champion at Clemson.

According to a Raiders’ fan website, Muse has “looked healthy and active so far” in offseason workouts.
