Baseball players from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties were honored this week when the N.C. Baseball Coaches Association announced its 2022 all-state teams.

Six Cleveland County, three Gaston County and two Lincoln County players were honored by the NCBCA.

In Class 3A, Crest’s Colby Humphries, Kings Mountain’s Charlie Melton and Zane Brockman and North Lincoln’s Matt Heavner and Landon Reeves were selected.

In Class 2A, Burns’ Joseph Webb, Ben Mauney and Colby Putnam were selected.

And in Class 1A, Cherryville’s Kanon Willis, Will Fowler and Landon Hahn were selected.

Humphries led Crest to a 17-8 record and its county-record 15th straight state playoff berth.

Melton (5-1 pitching record, .256 average) and Brockman (8-0 pitching record, .357 average) led Kings Mountain to an 18-6 record and the school’s first league title since 2009.

Heavner (.442 average) and Reeves (.415) led North Lincoln to a 20-6 record and its first conference title since 2009.

Webb, Mauney and Putnam led Burns to a 22-4 record and its first league title since 2015.

And Willis (7-1 pitching record, .380 average), Fowler (.302 average) and Hahn (.400 average, 1-0 pitching record) led Cherryville to a 22-12 record and a N.C. 1A runner-up finish.

Gaston Braves 11, Matthews 1 (6 innings): Gavin Houser (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Parker Agosta (winning pitcher), Caleb Burr (1 hit, 3 RBIs) led the Gaston Braves.

Cherryville 4, York, S.C. 0: Joseph Webb (5 innings, 2 hits, 6 strikeouts), Chase Miller (2 hits, 1 RBI), Cole Irby (1 RBI), Collin Huss (1 RBI), Collin Robinson (1 RBI) and Tobias Miller (1 RBI) led Cherryville.
