Kings Mountain def. Forestview 3-0 (25-13, 29-27, 25-15 on Tuesday): Meile Songaila (8 service points, 24 kills, 11 serve receptions), Camden Pasour (20 assists, 4 service points, 1 kill, 7 digs), Paige Bagwell (14 assists, 7 service points, 3 kills) and Myracle Davis (13 kills, 3 blocks) led the Mountaineers.
Kings Mountain also won the JV match 2-1 (25-23, 21-25, 15-8) behind Abigail Hedgepath (3 kills, 18 assists, 9 digs, 3 service points), Kenzlie Morris (6 kills, 2 digs, 8 service points), Megan Harrison (9 kills, 5 serve receptions, 4 service points) and Ava Tipton (18 serve receptions, 11 digs, 12 service points).

College basketball

Gaston College has announced a 30-game basketball schedule and its home gymnasium for the 2022-23 season. The Rhinos of first-year head coach Jamie Rosser will open the regular season on November 2 against Gaddis Watts Prep Academy at 7 p.m. at Ashbrook High School’s Larry Rhodes Gymnasium in Gastonia. The Ashbrook gymnasium will host all 15 Gaston College home games this season.
