Mountain Island Charter swept to both Catawba Shores 1A/2A Conference track championships on Thursday.

In a meet held at the Mountain Island Charter track, the Raptors girls team had 228 team points to outdistance second place Pine Lake Prep by 100 points. And Mountain Island Charter’s boys team had 217 points to win by 91 points over second-place Pine Lake Prep. Lincoln Charter finished fifth in the girls standings and third in the boys standings.
The Raptors dominated the top individual awards.
In girls, Jaida McGrew, Natalie Patton and Aniya Hawkins were tri-girls MVP winners, Arielle Baker was a co-field MVP winner and Robert Washington was named coach of the year.
In boys, Jaylin-Milton Hall was team MVP, Ashton Miller was one of three winners of the field MVP and Washington was named coach of the year.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association will unveil the 2022 baseball and softball playoff pairings on Monday and many local teams will be in the field.
The first round games are slated for Tuesday with future playoff rounds played on May 13, 17, May 20, May 24 through 28 and June 3 and 4.
