Belmont Abbey is the No. 3 seed as the Conference Carolinas baseball tournament continues Thursday with six teams competing for the league title.

The Crusaders (34-15, 21-8) set a school record for league victories in a season where head coach Chris Anderson became the Abbey’s all-time winningest baseball coach.

Belmont Abbey has won one league tournament title in its history when it won the 2009 championship to propel the school’s to the NCAA Division II World Series.

High school basketball

A pair of Cleveland County products and a Lincoln County coach will be participating in the 2022 North Carolina Coaches Association East-West All-Star games in Greensboro.

In the boys all-star game, Kings Mountain’s Zeke Cannedy will play for the West team.

In the girls all-star game, Shelby’s Kate Hollifield will play for the West team that will be coached by North Lincoln’s Brad Mangum.

 

 

 

 

High school track

Kings Mountain won the boys title and Cramer claimed the girls title in Tuesday’s Big South 3A Conference meet at Cramer. It was the second straight league title both.

In the boys meet, Kings Mountain amassed 205 points to finish well ahead of South Point’s second-place finish of 113 1-2 points.
