The state of North Carolina will be represented by a record eight schools in the NCAA baseball tournament after pairings were announced on Monday.
Campbell of the Big South Conference, Charlotte of Conference USA, Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State and Wake Forest of the ACC, East Carolina of the American Athletic Conference and UNC Wilmington of the Colonial Athletic Conference are all in the 64-team field.
Clemson of the ACC, Coastal Carolina of the Sun Belt and South Carolina of the SEC will represent the state of South Carolina.
Among North Carolina schools, here’s the list of NCAA tournament appearances by school: North Carolina 35, East Carolina and N.C. State 33, Wake Forest 15, Western Carolina 12, UNC Wilmington 11, Duke 8, Campbell and Charlotte 7, Elon 6, Appalachian State and UNC Greensboro 4, North Carolina A&T 2 and Davidson and UNC Asheville 1.
