Two area high school baseball teams advanced into next week’s best-of-three Western N.C. championship series with victories on Friday.

Friday’s area N.C. High School Athletic Association Western semifinal playoff results:

(Class 3A)
South Rowan 7, North Lincoln 3: A late South Rowan rally ended North Lincoln’s season.

East Lincoln 4, St. Stephens 1: Carson Dahle (5-hitter, 6 strikeouts), Garrett Michel (4 walks, 1 run), Gavin Houser (2 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI),
Trey Spees (2-4, 1 run, 1 RBI), Evan Matile (2 hits, 2 RBIs) and Mikey Ross (1-3, 1 run) led East Lincoln.

(Class 1A)
Cherryville 7, Uwharrie Charter 5: Braden Reynolds was the winner for Cherryville.

 

 

 

High school softball

Friday’s area N.C. High School Athletic Association Western semifinal playoff results:

(Class 3A)
Central Davidson 2, East Lincoln 1 (10 innings): Hard-luck loser Madison Currence, Betsy Eatmon (single, double), Tatum Martin (single) and Jaelyn Freeston (2 singles) led East Lincoln, whose season ended with a 24-1 record.

North Buncombe 1, Crest 0 (13 innings): Aidan Ledbetter (11-hitter, 10 strikeouts) and Jaylen Ledbetter (1 hit) led Crest, whose season ended with a 24-3 record.
