Four local players were repeat selections for the HighSchoolOT.com’s all-state girls basketball teams for the 2021-22 season that were announced on Monday.

Shelby’s Maraja Pass was named to the first team, Shelby’s Kate Hollifield and Kings Mountain’s Saniya Wilson to the second team and Bessemer City’s Janiya Adams to honorable mention. All four also were inaugural HighSchoolOT.com all-state selections in the 2020-21 season.

Middle school baseball
Belmont defeated Stanley 7-2 on Wednesday to win the 2022 Gaston County Conference championship.
Zeke Pruitt pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts. And Aydan Bradley (2-3), Pruitt (1 hit), Gavin Smith (1 hit), Chris Wurster (1 hit), Carter Rowe (1 hit), Jonathan Kalmbach (1 hit), Brody Crawford (1 hit) and Kenan Helton (1 hit) led the offense for Belmont, which finished its season with a 12-0 record.
It’s the fourth time the Wildcats have finished with an unbeaten seasonal record and seventh county title the school has won.
