College football

Quarterback Trexler Ivey scored on a 3-yard run as time expired to give the White team a 23-21 win over the Green in Saturday’s Charlotte 49ers spring game.

“It was a great crowd and a beautiful day,” Charlotte coach Will Healy said in a school news release. “It went as well as we could possibly ask. And it was an exciting game. Of course, you’ve got a quarterback who’s not live who carries the ball on the last play, so somebody’s going to be mad at me whenever I tell them who actually won the game.”

Returning starting QB Chris Reynolds completed 12 of 17 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns for the Green team, including a 39-yard TD pass to Victor Tucker on the opening drive and an 18-yard TD pass to Jairus Mack in the second quarter.

After trailing 21-10, the White team scored the final 13 points on a 2-yard TD rush from ChaVon McEachern in the third quarter and Ivey’s final TD.

James Foster completed seven of 17 passes for 107 yards and one touchdown and one interception for the White team. McEachern led all rushers with 66 yards on 10 carries, including a 34-yard burst, and Tucker had two catches for a game-high 86 yards.

Aveon Grose led the White team with five tackles while defensive tackle Bryan Wallace was credited with two sacks, including one of Reynolds on second and goal from the six. Cam Burden led the Green Team with five tackles.
