The Charlotte 49ers advanced to the semifinals of the CBI postseason tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Monday night with a 76-65 victory over Milwaukee.

The 49ers (20-14) advance to face Radford at 9 p.m. in Tuesday’s semifinals.
In Monday’s win, which came against a Milwaukee (22-12) team coached by former Queens head coach Bart Lundy, Brice Williams had 25 points, Jackson Threadgill 17 and Lu’cye Patterson 13 for the 49ers.

Middle school athletics
The 2023 Gaston County Conference middle school baseball and girls soccer seasons began on Monday.
In 2022, Belmont won both championship as the Wildcats defeated Stanley 7-2 in the baseball title game and defeated Cramerton 2-1 in overtime in the girls soccer title game.

Midwest 110, West 73: Local standouts led the victory in a postseason all-star game played at the Bessemer City High gynasium on Saturday night.
Bessemer City’s Keyshawn Woods had 25 points and earned MVP honors. Bessemer City’s Nazari Smarr and Randall Pettus added 18 and 16 points, respectively, for a team whose included players from three Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference teams – Woods, Smarr, Pettus and Jameer Holmes of Bessemer City, Numerius Good and Carson Kelly of Cherryville and Gavin Blackwood and Dante Hairston of Highland Tech.

The Charlotte Hornets rallied from a 21-point deficit in the middle of the second quarter to defeat the Indiana Pacers 115-109 on Monday night.
Trailing 54-33 with 6:55 left in the first half, the Hornets pulled with 66-58 at halftime and 88-85 after three quarters before taking the lead in the fourth quarter.
Kelly Oubre (28 points), Terry Rozier (23 points, 9 assists), Gordon Hayward (22 points) and Nick Richards (14 points, 17 rebounds) led Charlotte.
