By Richard Walker

A pair of Huss teammates are a part of NCAA women’s basketball tournament teams this week.

Nicole Woods and the Charlotte 49ers celebrate winning the 2022 Conference USA women’s basketball title last Saturday.

For the Charlotte 49ers, 2002 Huss graduate Nicole Woods is a ninth-year assistant coach for a school making its third NCAA tournament appearance in history – and first since 2009.

Charlotte is the No. 13 seed in the East Regional and visits No. 4 Indiana on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in its first round game after it won the 2022 Conference USA tournament title. The 49ers last won a conference tournament in 2009 (Atlantic 10) and their only other NCAA appearance came in 2003 as a Conference USA at-large team.

For Tennessee, 2004 Huss graduate Catherine Greene is a third-year director of basketball operations for the only school that has made all 40 NCAA women’s basketball tournaments.

The Volunteers are a No. 4 seed in the Midwest Regional and host No. 13 Buffalo on Saturday at 3 p.m.
