Friday’s roundup: Prep football playoff results/pairings, softball and girls soccer standings, College women’s golf, football and women’s basketball

Here’s a look a local first round games:

Burns 13, Hibriten 12: Cam’Ron Sweezy scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 4:04 left to lift the Bulldogs (6-2) to the first round playoff win over previously unbeaten Hibriten (7-1). Sweezy also scored Burns’ first touchdown.

Charlotte Catholic 28, Crest 21: The host Cougars (6-1) scored with 5.5 seconds left in the game to snap a 21-all tie and complete a comeback from a 21-7 deficit. Timothy Ruff threw two touchdown passes and scored on a touchdown run for Crest (6-2), which saw its streak of consecutive opening round playoff victories stopped at 27 years.

Kings Mountain 49, Robinson 6: Caleb Holland had two touchdown runs, Ethan Reid threw three touchdown passes (two to Chance Cannon and one to Orlando Odums) and Jaylen Mims had a touchdown run as the unbeaten Mountaineers (8-0) eliminated Robinson (5-3).

Shelby 42, Walkertown 6: Marquis Adams had two touchdowns runs and Tyler Arrington caught a touchdown pass and returned a pass interception 100 yards for another touchdown to lead Shelby (6-2) to its 27th straight opening round playoff victory. Kamari Houze and Izay Bridges also scored touchdowns for the Golden Lions.

West LIncoln’s Mason Huitt signed to play football at Mars Hill.

Mt. Pleasant 21, West Lincoln 20: The host Tigers (8-0) stayed unbeaten and ended West Lincoln’s season at 5-3.

Conference champion Belmont Abbey and runner-up Mount Olive lead the All-Conference Carolinas honors for the 2020-21 season.

Among those honored for the Abbey are league coach of the year Jason Gault, a 1991 Ashbrook High graduate.
