The Big South 3A Conference girls basketball race is one game away from ending om a dead heat while the boys title was wrapped on Tuesday.
Ashbrook’s girls forged a tie with a 71-68 win at Kings Mountain to spoil the Mountaineers’ “Senior Night” and a record-setting individual effort.
Both teams have 12-1 league records entering Friday’s regular season finales; Ashbrook hosts Huss and Kings Mountain visits Crest.
Kennette Bess had 32 points and Madison Cole 21 as Ashbrook avenged a 45-41 home loss to Kings Mountain.
The Mountaineers were led Saniya Wilson’s Cleveland County five-on-five girls basketball scoring 41 points.
In the boys race, Crest ectended its league winning streak to 27 games with an 83-62 win at Huss while second-place Kings Mountain lost 73-66 at home to Ashbrook.
