Boys high school basketball teams from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties went 8-6 in Tuesday’s opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs and girls teams went 4-5.
Crest, Cramer, East Lincoln and North Lincoln advanced in Class 3A boys, Lincoln Charter and Shelby in Class 2A boys, Bessemer City and Mountain Island Charter in Class 1A boys, Ashbrook and East Lincoln in Class 3A girls and Lincoln Charter and Shelby in Class 2A girls.

Belmont Abbey 99, Francis Marion 94: Bosko Bojovic had 20 points to lead five double-figure scorers as the Abbey improved to 18-9 overall and 16-7 in Conference Carolinas.
Gaston College 97, USC Salkehatchie 95: The Rhinos (16-10, 7-5) won their fifth Region 10 road game of the season in dramatic double-overtime fashion.
Belmont Abbey women 74, Francis Marion 65: Taylor Stelley scored 20 points to lead the Abbey (18-8, 16-6).

Belmont 55, Mount Holly 29: Dylan Bradley (20 points, 10 rebounds), K.J. Shouse (17 points, 15 rebounds) and Zeke Pruitt (6 points, 11 rebounds) led Belmont.
Holbrook 53, Bessemer City 25: Savion Lindsay had 17 points, Jeric Guthrie-Barber 11 points, Xavier Hutchens nine and Kendall Southern eight for Holbrook.
Grier 63, Chavis 17: Zyir Sowell had 14 points, Clee Phillips 11 and Qua’Melle Scott 10 for Grier.
Southwest 44, York Chester 38: Zamarius Gladden had 22 points and four rebounds for York Chester.
