New Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich is adding two assistant coaches with previous Carolina ties.
Reich, the first starting quarterback in franchise history, is hiring the Panthers’ first head coach Dom Capers as a senior defensive assistant. Capers is close with new Panthers defensive Ejiro Evero (he was a special assistant for him last year in Denver).
And former Carolina backup quarterback Josh McCown will be the Panthers’ quarterbacks coach. McCown, a 19-year NFL veteran, was a Charlotte Myers Park High assistant coach when current North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye and his son were the Mustangs’ quarterback. McCown also coached at Marvin Ridge High in Waxhaw.
Here’s the rest of Reich’s current staff with several other staffers yet to be hired, most notably an offensive coordinator: offensive line coach James Campen, offensive assistant Duce Staley, linebackers Peter Hansen and special teams Chris Tabor.
