East Lincoln High School is headed to its fourth state championship football game after outlasting South Point 14-7 on Friday night in the Western N.C. 3A championship game at East Lincoln.

Part of the huge crowd that attended Friday’s East Lincoln Western N.C. 3A finals win over South Point.

The unbeaten Mustangs (15-0) got touchdown down runs from Christopher Daley and Ben Cutter and survived a late rally by South Point (13-2) to advance to next Saturday’s 7 p.m. state title game at N.C. State’s Carter-Finley Stadium.

East Lincoln clinched the victory by intercepting a pass deep in its territory on the final play of the game in front of a crowd estimated at 6,000.

The Mustangs will meet Northern Nash in next week’s championship game.
