What looked to be a lost season for the Carolina Panthers is now a potential division-winning season after Sunday’s 30-24 win at Seattle.
Not only was it the Panthers’ first road win since Nov. 14, 2021, but the victory coupled with Tampa Bay’s loss means Carolina now controls its fate in the NFC South Division race.
If the Panthers (5-8) can win their final four games – at home against Pittsburgh at Detroit and on the road at Tampa Bay and New Orleans – it will win the NFC South and host a playoff game during the Jan. 15-16 weekend.
In Sunday’s victory, Carolina took a quick 17-0 lead, then after Seattle closed within 20-17 scored 10 straight points to put the game away.
A strong running led the Panthers to victory as team rushed 46 times for 223 yards behind 74 yards apiece from D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard.
It was the franchise’s 30th 200-yard rushing game in history and improved the team’s record to 27-3 in those contests, including 12-0 on the road.
Carolina’s last road game was by a 34-10 score at Arizona last season when Cam Newton rushed and passed for touchdowns three days after re-signing with the team.

Joel Embiid’s 53-points, 12-rebounds game lifted the Philadelphia 76ers to a 131-113 victory over the visiting Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
Charlotte (7-20), which lost for the fifth straight game, was led by Terry Rozier (29 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists) and Kelly Oubre (29 points).
