Seventeen players from Cleveland and Gaston counties are on the roster of the West team for the 2022 Queen City Senior Bowl.
The game will be played on Dec. 17 at noon at Charlotte’s Olympic High School and pits Charlotte-area players divided by East and West against one another.
The local players are Ashbrook’s Carmelo Bess and Elijah Haynes, Burns’ L.J. Allen, Cramer’s Justin Rocquemore, Crest’s DaVonyae Pettis and Brandon McCall-Webber, East Gaston’s Sirr Stovall, Forestview’s Kenneth Odugba, Huss’ Cayden Smith and Justin Ross, Kings Mountain’s Isaiah Eskridge and A.J. Richardson, Mountain Island Charter’s Ashton Miller, North Gaston’s Joshua Smith, Shelby’s Daylin Lee and Tadarrin Griffin and South Point’s Will Ross.
The East team will be coached by Joe Evans and the West team by Hickory Ridge’s Jupiter Wilson.

Gardner-Webb University vice president and director of athletics Dr. Andrew Goodrich announced on Tuesday that Tony Setzer would not return as head men’s soccer coach.
“We are grateful for Coach Setzer and his contributions to Gardner-Webb soccer,” Goodrich said in a schools news release. “We wish Tony and his family nothing but the best.”
Setzer guided Gardner-Webb to a 234-375-46 record in 35 seasons as GWU head coach.
