The Carolina Panthers slow start continued on Sunday in a 37-15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Bank of America Stadium 30 minutes before kickoff of Sunday’s Panthers-49ers game where most of the fans there were dressed in 49ers’ jerseys.

Carolina fell to 1-4 on a day in which many of the 72,321 in attendance at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium where clad in 49ers’ colors.

San Francisco, which entered with the league’s 24th-ranked offense and top-ranked defense, opened the game with a 75-yard scoring drive and never trailed. It was the first opening touchdown drive allowed by the Panthers in 21 games.

By game’s end, the red-clad 49ers’ fans remained as the most Panthers’ fans departed early.

San Francisco outgained Carolina 397-308 behind Jimmy Garappolo’s 253 yards passing and two touchdowns.

Carolina was led by Baker Mayfield’s 215 yards passing and Christian McCaffrey’s 54 yards rushing and one touchdown and seven catches for 50 yards.

But Mayfield, who did postgame interviews with a walking boot on his left foot, threw an interception that resulted in a 49ers’ touchdown return that gave San Francisco a 17-3 halftime lead.
