10-9-21 roundup: Pro football, basketball, baseball and auto racing, College football, High school football, boys soccer and volleyball
By Richard Walker
A late flurry helped Campbell win 42-28 at Gardner-Webb on Saturday night in the inaugural “East-West Barbecue Bowl” Big South Conference football game.

The schools, who first met on the gridiron in 1929 when they were junior colleges, decided earlier this season to add a barbecue bet to their annual matchup.
As the winner, Campbell was presented with a topped with a decorative hog and adorned with a placard to engrave each year’s winning team and score.
Wiley Headley passed for 265 yards and two touchdowns and Bryant Barr rushed for three touchdowns to lead Campbell (3-2, 2-0). Campbell scored three touchdowns in the final 16 minutes after Gardner-Webb had taken a 28-21 lead.
For Gardner-Webb (2-4, 0-2), which lost its program-record ninth straight Big South Conference game, Narii Gaither had 150 yards rushing and two touchdowns and Bailey Fisher had 160 yards passing and one touchdown.
