ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported on Friday that “there’s a lot of buzz” the Carolina Panthers will fire head coach Matt Rhule “if things don’t pick up soon.”
The Panthers are 11-26 in the past three seasons with Rhule as head coach and Graziano reports that firing him during the season would Carolina owner David Tepper an early start at finding his replacement amid rumors the team is planning to pursue forme New Orleaens head coach Sean Payton.
Graziano added that ex-Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks (and Charlotte native) would likely serve as the interim coach if Rhule is fired before the season ends.
