Cramerton won its fifth Gaston County Conference middle school golf championship in six seasons on Tuesday at Green Meadows Golf Course in Mount Holly.

Belmont’s Will Monteith was the individual medalist for the second straight year with a 37 that was one shot ahead of five other golfers in the field.
Cramerton has won 15 county titles in the history of the event that dates to 1975.
The Eagles of coach Neil Jones had a balanced attack that was led by two of the second-place finishers – Lane Crotts and Ian Irish both shot 38 – in addition to Tripp Stacy’s 40 and Britton Steele and Coley Pruitt had 44s.
Belmont’s Harley Green and W.C. Friday’s Blake Mitchell joined Crotts and Irish in second place with 38s.

Pro and college football
Former Crest High standout Jonathan Bullard has helped the Minnesota Vikings to a 3-1 start and leads a group of former local standouts shining in college and pro football.

A 2012 Crest High graduate, Bullard has made nine tackles in four games (two starts) for Minnesota in his seventh NFL season. Previously, Bullard has played for the Chicago Bears (2016-18), Arizona Cardinals (2019-20), Seattle Seahawks (2020) and Atlanta Falcons (2021).
Here’s a look at other local standouts:
Tanner Muse (South Point 2015) has played in three games for the Seattle Seahawks (2-2) during his second NFL season. He was elevated from the team’s practice squad before their second game on Sept. 18.
Aapri Washington (Mountain Island Charter 2017) and Devon King (South Point 2020) have helped East Carolina to a 3-2 start to its season. Washington has five tackles in four games and King has six tackles in five games.
Tyler Arrington (Shelby 2021) has 17 tackles in five games for Gardner-Webb (1-4).
Sam Brady (North Lincoln 2020) made two tackles for Virginia (2-3) in last Saturday’s 38-17 loss at Duke.
Dax Hollifield (Shelby 2018) has 39 tackles in five starts for Virginia Tech (2-3).
Daniel Carter (North Lincoln 2021) has 26 tackles in five starts for Davidson (4-1).
