Cleveland County completed a sweep of Gaston County on Thursday with four more victories as it finished the regular season with a 21-0 record against its Eastern neighbors.
The sweep is the biggest reason next week’s regular season finales will feature a pair of Cleveland County rivalries that will determine championships of two conferences.
Crest (9-0, 6-0) visits Kings Mountain (9-0, 6-0) for the Big South 3A championship and Burns (7-2, 5-0) visits Shelby (6-3, 5-0) for the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A championship.
After Thursday’s 4-0 sweep, Crest and Kings Mountain are 6-0 against Gaston County this season, with Burns 5-0 and Shelby 4-0.
