Burleson, who in September became the first major leaguer in East Lincoln history, was selected by the Cardinal Nation website that is dedicated to supporting the St. Louis Cardinals’ baseball team.

A 2017 East Lincoln High graduate, Burleson made his Cardinals’ major league debut after being a second round draft pick out of East Carolina in 2020.

Burleson hit .331 with 20 home runs and 87 RBIs in 109 games for Class AAA Memphis this season before his promotion to the majors on Sept. 7.

With the Cardinals, Burleson hit .188 with one home run and three RBIs in 16 games.
