10-10-21 roundup: Pro football, basketball, baseball and auto racing, College football, High school football, boys soccer and volleyball

The Carolina Panthers were looking at a 4-1 record for most of Sunday’s home game against the slumping Philadelphia Eagles.
But several second half mistakes allowed the Eagles to pull off a stunning 21-18 win over the Panthers much to the dismay of many of the 72,545 at Bank of America Stadium.
Philadelphia (2-3) snapped a three-game losing streak by outscoring Carolina (3-2) 18-3 for the final 30 minutes of Sunday’s contest.
“Disappointed about today,” Panthers coach Matt Rhule said after the game. “Really disappointed in the second half. Credit goes to them. I thought Coach (Nick) Sirianni did a nice job getting his team ready.
“They played four quarters and we did not. Really not much to say other than that.”
Carolina controlled possession for 35:03 of the game’s 60 minutes but Philadelphia’s late flurry gave them a 273-267 total yardage advantage.
The Panthers are 3-2 for the 10th time in franchise history with three of those previous nine seasons ending up in the playoffs and five seasons ending up with losing records.
Had Carolina won to start 4-1, it would’ve joined the 2003, 2008, 2015 and 2017 seasons that all ended up in the playoffs.
Rookie Chuba Hubbard led Carolina’s offense with 101 yards rushing. Quarterback Sam Darnold completed 21 of 37 passes for 177 yards but he was sacked three times, pressured five other times and threw three interceptions – two in the fourth quarter.
